About 9 Beaches:
Created by veteran hoteliers Russ Urban and David Dodwell, casual is the catchword at 9 Beaches. Sandals not suits dominate at this dress-down retreat. True to its name, the resort sprawls over 9 beaches, featuring several exposures and venues (even at high tide). Cabanas stand on stilts: some perch over the sapphire sea where plexi-glass floor panels reveal tropical fish fluttering underfoot.
All 84 cabanas have large windows and double doors that open onto ocean-view verandas. World-renowned designer Lynn Wilson styled the interiors; her talent also shines at The Taj Majal in India and Queen Elizabeth’s Widlesham Moore Estate in Ascot, England.
Complimentary cell phones allow guests to signal for room service or whatever they desire. 9 Beaches occupies 18 acres, alongside clear, multiple shades of blue waters some of Bermuda’s most beautiful. Aquatic options abound: Hobie Cats, sailboards or sea kayaks. Ripple the waves in a raft or Jet Ski. Snorkel to the wreck of the HMS Vixen, a small, 1860s twin-screwed ironclad. More adventuresome guests can skim the surface on kite boards, following lessons from instructors certified by the International Kite Boarding Association. 9 Beaches also offers Wi-Fi service throughout the property.
Chef John Pritchard, host of Canada’s Global TV “Red, Hot and Ready” program, serves the island’s top cuisine in several beachside settings. Overlooking the main beaches, the laid-back dockside bar and grill, Dark ‘n Stormy’s, dishes up light cuisine for 9 Beaches and locals alike. Enjoy an eclectic menu of internationally inspired cuisine at Hi Tide, with dining options indoors or on the poolside deck outdoors. The Barefoot Gourmet creates sunlit lunches and candlelit dinners on any of the nine gorgeous beaches.
