(Bangkok, April 12, 2007) – Bangkok’s restaurant EMBER is showcasing the culinary art of chef Sebastian Ng with a new gourmet ‘Degustation Menu’ priced at 1,600 Baht.

The set seven-course dinner, which is changed fortnightly, can also be paired with wine for an additional 990 Baht.

The restaurant with an outdoor terrace at Bangkok’s chic Langsuan Balcony dining and entertainment plaza has gained a loyal following among connoisseurs of fine food and wine as one of the best in the capital.

The inaugural ‘Degustation Menu’ greets guests with an amuse bouche tomato appetizer of Gaspacho jelly, cucumber crunch, tomato sorbet and tomato tartare with shallot dressing and Gruyere chips.

Hokkaido Scallops Carpaccio follows, with Accacia honey-lemon vinaigrette, crispy Chorizo and petite frisee salad, accompanied by a full-bodied Outback Chase Chardonnay, 2004.

Served next is roasted Kaboucha Pumpkin from Japan, with pumpkin cream, sauteed and spiced Rock Lobster, Marscapone-Riccota tortelinni parmesan espuma, served with a soft and tender Hugel Gewurztraminer, Alsace, 2004.

Deliciously rich Foie Gras brulee with citrus fruits, berries and Balsamic jelly is paired with a Cranswick Estate Reserve 1997 Botrytis.

After a palate cleansing sorbet, Chilean Seabass is next on the menu, cooked in broiled sake with shiso broth and served with a Rapel Valley 2004 Chateau Los Boldos Chardonnay.

Main course is chargrilled 150 Days Black Angus Beef, with onion compote and soyu-bacon dressing, twinned with a deep red Rapel Valley 2004 Chateau Los Boldos Cabernet Sauvignon.

A dessert platter of Chocolate Caramel Tart, with fleur de sel and black pepper ice cream is finally served with a luscious sweet Salisbury 2002 Semillon Botrytis.

The menu is subject to 10% service charge and 7% vat.

Sebastian Ng’s menus at restaurant EMBER Bangkok focus on contemporary European cuisine – especially pasta, game meats and seafood — with bursts of fresh local flavors and ingredients.

Overseeing the kitchen is 29-year old Muhammad Haikal Johari who previously held positions at some of Singapore’s top restaurants including Les Amis, Pierside and Raffles Hotel. He has also worked on short term assignments alongside top international chefs including Joel Robuchon and Laurent Gras.
