(KAUA'I, Hawaii) "“ Kaua'i is considered by many to be one of the most special places on Earth. Only three percent of the island is developed and the unspoiled beauty which dominates the senses has forever titillated those fortunate visitors who make it here.
Because of their location, terrain, weather, lush foliage and the legendary architects who have designed best-of rated courses on Kaua'i (Jack Nicklaus and Robert Trent Jones Jr. to name two), the golf destination and their affiliated resorts are regularly ranked among the world's most coveted.
Puakea, Poipu Bay, Kaua'i Lagoons and Princeville combine to offer 117 holes of scintillating golf on Kaua'i. Three of these award-winning golf properties are affiliated with renowned resorts, including Poipu Bay with the Grand Hyatt Kaua'i Resort & Spa, Kaua'i Lagoons with the Kaua'i Marriott Resort & Beach Club and Princeville Golf Courses with the Princeville Hotel. Princeville, Grand Hyatt and Kaua'i Marriott were all voted "Top 100 Golf Resorts 2007" by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine readers.
Thanks to newly announced transpacific flight offerings, the golf-destination Kaua'i: Discover Golf's Ultimate Island Green has never been easier to visit.
For starters, ATA Airlines will offer four weekly flights to Lihue Airport, Kaua'i (airport symbol: LIH) from both Oakland, Calif., and Las Vegas beginning this Friday (June 15). The flights will be supported through a new marketing relationship with Southwest Airlines, which has connections with 15 mainland cities.
Likewise, Alaska Airlines has announced it intends to launch service from the mainland to "paradise" with flights from Seattle/Tacoma to Kaua'i commencing Oct. 28. To peak interest in the expansion, the carrier is offering introductory one-way discount airfares on each run ($149 from Seattle/Tacoma to Kaua'i). The intro discount airfare is pegged to a roundtrip purchase, and neither taxes nor fees are included. Contact Alaska Airlines for additional details and requirements/restrictions.
"With the addition of these transportation options, we hope visitors will take advantage of the opportunity to come experience Kaua'i and the great golf and other destination attractions which offer something for everyone "“ from families and couples to outdoor adventurists and naturalists," says Sue Kanoho, Executive Director of the Kaua'i Visitors Bureau.
