New York, January 2006 — Three of NCV's Independent Vacations are on sale to early birds "“ those booking by March 1, 2006 receive reductions of $95 to $515 per person on the 12-day "Highlights of Norway," 13-day "Norwegian Holiday" and 17-day "Grand Norway." The three all-Norway packages are designed for independent travelers who prefer the flexibility of doing their own sightseeing and dining in major cities but appreciate the convenience and cost savings of air-inclusive cruise tours. The centerpiece of the packages is a seven-day northbound, six-day southbound or 12-day round-trip sailing along the scenic, 1,250-mile Norwegian coast visiting 34 ports between Bergen and Kirkenes, above the Arctic Circle. All tours include the Oslo Pass and Bergen Card offering free and reduced admission to many museums and attractions as well as unlimited public transportation in those cities. The cruise portion of each tour, set against a backdrop of majestic fjords and snow-capped mountains, takes in Alesund's Art Nouveau architecture, the spectacular Geirangerfjord (April 15"“September 14), the lively university town of Tromso, ancient Trondheim founded by first-century Vikings and the magnificent Lofoten Islands, which stretch like a wall of mountains off the coast.
