The capital's promotional agency, London & Partners has unveiled a calendar of exciting events to entice domestic and international visitors to the capital.
The calendar is being launched as part of the Limited Edition London campaign, the first international marketing campaign to be launched by London & Partners since its launch in April.
The aim of the campaign is to encourage visitors to come to London to enjoy unique and one-off events that will be happening around the city from now until the start of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The calendar is being brought to life by London's most famous diarist Samuel Pepys, who in the 17th Century kept a diary of his life through the 1660s. For one day only, the unique Pepys Show installation will be on located in Trafalgar Square to give visitors to the capital a sneak peek into some of the incredible events coming up in the London diary.
Through the "pepys"-holes on the installation, visitors can see each event brought to life with a bespoke scene and get a taste for what's to come. The inspiring events include an exclusive Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at the National Gallery, sleeping under the stars at ZSL London Zoo, celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at a sparkling exhibition at Buckingham Palace, a jewel inspired afternoon tea, an evening of 1940s glamour and champagne at the Churchill War Rooms and welcoming the Year of the Dragon in China Town.
Last year, London welcomed 26.2 million domestic and international visitors who contributed over £11 billion to the London economy. As the capital approaches the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Limited Edition London campaign will harness the opportunity to showcase everything the capital has to offer from theatre and retail to attractions and events from now until the start of the Games.
Gordon Innes, CEO, London & Partners says, "The 'Pepys Show' really highlights the ever-changing collection of new and exciting things to do and see in the capital. London is more magical than ever, the city has so much to offer, there has never been a better time to visit! This sneak peek is a real taster of the great things to come over the next nine months."
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson welcomed visitors to the capital stating,
"London remains without doubt the most enchanting and exciting capital city in the world. In the months leading up to the Games in 2012 there are a huge number of unique and inspiring places to visit and wonderful things to see and do. From an exclusive display of Leonardo da Vinci at The National Gallery to a night out under the stars at London Zoo, visitors to this great city really will be spoilt for choice."
