LOS ANGELES — Get ready for the shopping party of the year! Malaysia‘s annual Mega
Sale Carnival hits the streets and malls of every major Malaysian city on June 16, 2007.
The Malaysian Mega Sale Carnival, happening from June 16 to September 2, offers
discounts on a wide variety of items, including a multitude of Malaysian handicrafts.
Special discounts and promotions will be offered by the various shopping malls and
stores nationwide.
The Mega Sale Carnival is the largest of Malaysia‘s three major annual sales. The other
two are the Malaysian GP Sale (Mar. 24 – Apr. 22, 2007) and the Year End Sales
Carnival (Dec. 1, 2007 – Jan. 1, 2008).
The sales exemplify Malaysia‘s quality as a value-for-money destination. In fact, in a
survey of 71 cities worldwide by Swiss banking giant UBS in October 2006, Kuala
Lumpur was ranked as the least expensive city in the world. UBS rated KL as the city
with the most competitive prices for food, electronic goods, clothes, public
transportation, hotel rates and entertainment.
Beyond being a smart place to visit for your wallet’s sake, Malaysia is also a multi-
cultural melting pot with a unique heritage of ethnicities. This year, the nation celebrates
its harmonious blend of ethnic Malays, Chinese and Asian Indians in its 50th Golden
Anniversary of independence. To find out more about the celebration and about
