January 15, 2008 "“ The Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport today announced that the hotel is a 100% smoke-free facility in all guestrooms, meeting space and public areas. The move reflects the hotel's commitment to providing guest's with a comfortable atmosphere that is clean, fresh and healthy.
In order to convert the hotel to a smoke-free environment all smoking rooms were taken out of order for a 24-hour period to undergo an intensive cleaning process. This process included laundering all linens and bedding, removing and cleaning all drapes and window shears, deep cleaning of all walls and hard surfaces, special cleaning of all rugs, replacing air filters and leaning of all HVAC units.

The hotel has made the move to go non-smoking in response to the voice of the customer. Customer research in recent years has shown that guests are seeking a healthy, smoke-free hotel experience.
The Sheraton Gateway is connected via a climate controlled walkway to Terminal 3's departure level at Toronto Pearson International Airport and the new Automated People Mover connects the hotel to Terminal 1.
