The Evian Masters, in Evian-les-Bains, which will take place July 25 to 29, started in 1994 and became part of the LPGA in 2000. Always considered a premier tournament, just behind the US Open, the Evian Masters offers a $3 million purse and is one of the ten winner events of the LPGA 2007 Playoffs.
The tournament will kick off this year with the first Evian Masters Juniors Cup. Players under age 14 from 12 countries will compete in the two-day event July 23-24. The Official Rolex Pro Am is scheduled for July 25, and the Evian Masters will tee-off on July 26 with the finals on July 29.
There are many activities surrounding the tournament. The Swinch and the Fifteen golf exhibits invite the public to visit their booths and see the latest in the world of golf including clothing and accessories by Lacoste and the Evian Masters pro shop.
Covering a vast 150 acres of wooded parkland, the 18-hole Evian Masters Golf Club course (6283 yards, par 72) is both technically challenging and visually breathtaking with views of Lake Geneva and the nearby Alpine peaks. Its well-defended greens and narrow fairways provide a challenge for the leisure player as well as the champion golfer.
