Rock Legends from the Morrison Hotel Gallery
The famed and luxurious Sunset Marquis Hotel in West Hollywood was the place to be on Thursday evening, February 7th 2013, as iconic celebrity portrait photographer and gallery curator Timothy White kicked off the grand opening of the Morrison Hotel Gallery within the grounds of the legendary hotel.
Set inside the hotel lobby and just across from the famed Bar 1200 the gallery consisted of fine art photography from world-class photographers amongst them Mr. Timothy White himself. Photos of legendary bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, U2, and solo artists like Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, and many, many others hung about the entire hotel grounds spreading far beyond the gallery itself into the lobby, breezeway, restaurant, spa garden, and into the Bar 1200 itself.

With old school punk rock tunes blasting in the Bar 1200 and rock n roll classics being spun by a DJ by the poolside area the Sunset Marquis was a bustling mash-up of who's-who celebrities, fashionistas from around the globe, and Hollywood hanger-on's looking to be part of the scene, giving the grand opening of the gallery a rather typical glitzy Hollywood feel.
The Morrison Hotel Gallery co-owners Timothy White, Henry Diltz, and Peter Blachley were on the scene along with musician turned photographer Julian Lennon and many others like Monkee's legend Mickey Dolenz, Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, and Billy Bob Thorton.
The addition of the gallery to the already famous Sunset Marquis Hotel simply adds to the already present mystique of the hotel, which is set just off the famed Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.
Rock N’ Roll Attraction
Visitors to the Los Angeles area should add a visit to the gallery to their list of "must see" landmarks along with taking in a drink or two at the Bar 1200 and dinner in the plush hotel garden restaurant before making their way out for a night of partying on the Sunset strip.
Aime Caron
Aime Caron is a composer/musician currently living in Los Angeles, CA. He was born and raised in Taunton, MA and received his bachelors degree in Contemporary Writing and Production from the Berklee College of Music in Boston MA. He is a multi-instrumentalist and his main instruments are piano, guitar, and flute. He has a particular fondness for World Music though anything with a good groove and unique harmony/melody interests him the most. Mr. Caron has spent extensive time in the Caribbean nation of St Kitts and Moscow Russia where he was exposed to a diverse vocabulary of music from around the globe, including jazz music and nights at the Morrison Hotel Gallery.

are the photos permanent? Are part of a limited time at the Sunset Marquis?
Hi Devin, the photo’s are indeed permanent though there will be additions of new stuff periodically being added. Most of the stuff that was displayed the night of the opening was based on music but I know there is a desire to add some more sports related photographers as things progress.
By the way, the grounds of the Sunset Marquis are beautiful and the hotel really was the perfect choice for the gallery.
Such a cool idea for this hotel, I love it! Will have to check it out next time I’m in town.
