(Victoria, BC) –The Westin Bear Mountain Victoria Golf Resort & Spa has been awarded five stars, the highest rating, by Canada Select, Canada’s national accommodation ratings program. Bear Mountain is only the second resort in British Columbia to receive the distinction in the resort category, and the fourth to receive that rating in the hotel category. Only one other property in BC has both.
“This couldn’t have happened without the committed efforts of the entire staff,” said Bear Mountain Resort general manager Terry Yacyshen. “This is quite an accomplishment for a relatively new resort operation and something that we can all be very proud of”.
Canada Select is an industry-led, consumer-sensitive rating program, developed for the purpose of providing the travelling public with a national consistent standard of quality within categories of accommodation. It is Canada’s only national accommodation rating program. Properties that achieve the five star rating are described as being luxurious at a world standard, offering outstanding facilities, guest service and amenities.
The program was developed after extensive consumer research into what was expected and considered important at various star levels and categories of accommodations. Presently nine provinces and one territory are delivering the Canada Select program: Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba and the Yukon.
