Costa Rica is nature at its best: from the wild jungles of the Caribbean coast, to Monteverde Cloud Forest, to impressive Arenal Volcano, it is one of the most biologically diverse places on earth. Monkeys, sloths, coatimundis, an array of colorful birds, and dazzling sea creatures accompany us on our journey. Our adventure unfolds in the remote Tortuguero National Park, a fascinating system of barrier islands and twisting waterways in the Caribbean rainforest. Here we look for poison dart frogs in the rainforest, and venture by night in dugout canoes to observe the habits of nocturnal creatures. Next we move to the unspoiled central highlands, where we hike in the beautiful cloudforest, alive with butterflies and resplendent quetzals, and take a boat ride across a lake beneath the impressive displays of one of the world's most active volcanoes.
