Southern Lakes in for Endless Winter

Holders of 2006 season passes for Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Treble Cone and Cardrona can now ski or board well into 2007 at participating ski areas across the world, for just half price.

The Endless Winter Global Ski Experience encourages skiers & riders of each Leading Mountain Resort (LMR) of the World to visit the others. This programme will allow people to ski at vastly discounted rates for 10 out of the 12 months of the year.

The Leading Mountain Resorts of the World is an alliance between top alpine resorts. Queenstown New Zealand represents Australasia, Val Gardena Italy represents Europe, Vail Colorado for North America and Bariloche Argentina represents South America.

A top Japanese resort will soon be added to the alliance which will allow for discount skiing on every continent of the world for LMR season pass holders.

Under the Endless Winter offer, Queenstown region season pass holders can enjoy a 50% discount off ski passes at 18 snow areas in the Vail, Val Gardena and Bariloche regions on presentation of their home season pass.

Under the system, season passes sold in the Southern Hemisphere for the 2006 and 2007 seasons will be honoured by Northern Hemisphere resorts for the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. Similarly, season passes sold in the Northern Hemisphere for the 2006/2007 and the 2007/2008 seasons will be honoured by the Southern Hemisphere resorts for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Queenstown Leading Mountain Resorts of the World spokesman and Destination Queenstown CEO David Kennedy said the Endless Winter Global Ski Experience offered benefits on several levels for Queenstown.

"This is a ground breaking initiative for local skiers & riders as well as the resorts involved. There is no other alliance of this sort in the world and no other organisation offers such value packed ski passes."

For Destination Queenstown and the Southern Lakes region Endless Winter works to lift the profile of the region, acknowledge it as among the best resorts in the world and drive long haul winter visitors to the area.

"Leading Mountain Resorts of the World is valuable to Queenstown because it represents a world wide quality benchmark assuring visitors that in any of those resorts, they can expect the very best in an alpine holiday."
