(Montreal, January 25, 2012) – The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal team is especially proud to present James Taylor in a pre-opening concert to the 33rd edition of the Festival presented by TD in collaboration with Rio Tinto Alcan, on June 27, 2012 at 7:30 P.M., in the Salle Wilfrid"‘Pelletier Place des Arts, as part of the Événements spéciaux series. Tickets for this concert, presented in collaboration with Evenko, go on sale this Thursday at noon.

In 2008, the Festival and Evenko collaborated to offer us a magnificent concert by James Taylor, who was returning to Montreal after an 11-year absence, in the Bell Centre. As the many fans who flocked to the show can confirm, it was a genuine musical event! This year, they will collaborate again to invite the famed American singer-songwriter back, just after his recent European tour, to the exquisitely intimate confines of Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier "“ a truly rare opportunity. For those too young to have caught the past 40 years of popular music, it's an opportunity to discover the masterpieces that made Taylor an icon of '70s folk and propelled him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For devoted fans, it's an opportunity to bask in the glow of his unique vocal timbre and his timeless greatest hits, including How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You), Carolina In My Mind, Fire and Rain and, of course, You've Got A Friend, and to discover what a singer of this caliber, surrounded by the finest musicians, can deliver when he reworks immortal songs by Chuck Berry, Big Mama Thornton and Junior Walker.
