Spring Loaded launches into action
Renowned for never letting a season go by without fitting celebration, Queenstown local people are to stage no fewer than 35 events to run between September 22 and October 26.
Destination Queenstown today launched the Spring Loaded campaign designed to create a marketing umbrella that will collectively support and promote the events.
Destination Queenstown CEO David Kennedy said the events that make up the Spring Loaded calendar are diverse, professionally presented and offer fantastic reasons to visit Queenstown.
"The range of events on this programme is amazing. To promote them under one marketing umbrella fits with Destination Queenstown's key strategic objective to increase visitation during the spring shoulder season. We want to clearly communicate to people across Otago, Southland, Canterbury and further afield that Queenstown is quite a different place in spring. After a strong winter season, the town has a celebratory air which sets the atmosphere for a broad range of spring events."
The centerpiece of the Spring Loaded calendar is the Queenstown International ASB Jazzfest, a 10 day jazz extravaganza attracting musicians from across the country and around the world. Also on the bill is the Telecom Queenstown International Film Festival, a national freestyle snowboard and ski competition at The Remarkables, the AJ Hackett Nude Bungy Day, the Trustpower Adventure Quest and many more events spanning sporting, comic, musical, cultural, artistic, adventurous and creative activities.
"Queenstown always has a lively buzz and a distinct vibe and the calendar of events we're launching today reflects that buzz and delivers a series of indisputable reasons to visit Queenstown this spring," said Mr Kennedy.
The Spring Loaded event calendar is available at www.springloaded.co.nz. 100,000 brochures have been printed and are to be delivered throughout the southern South Island (Christchurch and south) and will be supported by a national print media advertising campaign.
