Monday – Sitting on top of a pile of carefully placed stones creating the edge of a terrace for ancient crops, my feet dangling over the edge of a gorge, my eyes keen on the sky thatÂ is continually brightening in aÂ misty dawn. ItÂ´s aboutÂ 6AM Monday morning in the ruins of Machu Picchu and the clouds are wrapping around the peaks of the Andes and creeping overÂ Incan structures. IÂ think I must be close to heaven because such aÂ sight is beyond my understanding. My head hurts to think of a people creating such a city at the top of the world, and I begin to believe in a city of gods. If ever there was aÂ place on earth where gods were created surely it would be Machu Picchu. This lost city of temples andÂ terraces inspires greatness and it is no doubt that theÂ Inca were more than mere humans.
