ICELAND – June 7th, 2016 "“

Travelers considering a luxury getaway to Iceland can now take a virtual tour of 4-star Hotel Rangá, the first hotel in Iceland to offer Google Maps Street View. The tour which launched today was created using over 1,000 images photographed on location at the country’s top resort in May. With just a few clicks guests can interactively explore three artist-inspired guestrooms, two Around the World themed suites, the Royal Bridal Suite, plus deluxe amenities like a Stargazing Observatory with retractable roof.

“We’re delighted to be the first hotel in Iceland to offer street-style viewing on Google Maps,” says Fridrik Pálsson, hotelier of Hotel Rangá. “We believe it will enhance the guest experience by providing a sneak preview of the hotel’s unique atmosphere and features like volcano views from our restaurant, and guestrooms with new artist-inspired frescoes.”

In 2016 Hotel Rangá commissioned local Icelandic artists to use its 20 standard rooms and 24 deluxe rooms as their canvas. The end result is an array of rooms with hand-painted frescoes depicting the epic nature sites surrounding Hotel Rangá in the enviable location of South Iceland. One room on the virtual tour features a fresco painted with a starry night sky as seen from the Stargazing Observatory. The hotel-adjacent building has a retractable roof and guests are welcome to enjoy guided tours of the night sky using Iceland’s most advanced digital telescopes.
