People arriving at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) who wish to travel on the new Canada Line Skytrain to either Richmond or Vancouver should be aware that there is a new additional fare now in operation called the Canada Line YVR AddFare. This charge doesn’t apply to people who have prepaid tickets such as Monthly FareCards.
However tourists without prepaid tickets will have to pay the $5 AddFare on top of their zone fare. Prepaid tickets can be purchased at either the 7-Eleven or the Pharmasave on Level 1 of the Domestic Terminal Arrivals.
The new AddFare only applies to people using the Canada Line from the airport and the two other Skytrain stations on Sea Island, Sea Island Centre and Templeton. No AddFare will be required on journeys to the Sea Island stations.
Skytrain is run by Translink and information can be found at either their website www.translink.ca or by phone at 604-953-3333. Tourists should note that the ticket vending machines at the airport have been adjusted to charge the Canada Line YVR AddFare automatically.
