CANCUN CELEBRATES ENDLESS SUMMER WITH BEACH PARTY
The Mexican Caribbean Public Relations Association announces its second annual Cancun Beach Party, August 10 – 12. The event will take place along the white sandy beaches of Cancun’s famous hotel zone and will bring together local people, tourists and the destination’s leading travel and entertainment companies.

This year’s festival will include the participation and support of more local businesses as well as a 100% family-oriented program of events, including beachfront tennis and soccer tournaments, culinary displays and exhibits, kite flying contests, a nighttime boat parade and an exclusive concert by singer Julieta Venegas.

FOUR CANCUN RESORTS PLACE IN TOP TEN HOTELS LIST
Celebrated Living, the in-flight magazine for American Airlines premium class passengers, includes four of Cancun’s properties in its Readers’ Choice Platinum List of Hotels in Mexico. The survey’s 38,000 respondents selected the Ritz-Carlton Cancun as their top pick, followed by the JW Marriot Cancun Resort & Spa, Le Meridien Cancun Resort & Spa and CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort in second, third and fourth places, respectively.

NEW FACILITIES OPEN FOR CANCUN CONFERENCES
Following a US$20 million renovation and expansion last year, the Hyatt Cancun Caribe Resort has recently announced the opening of its new Laguna Conference Centre, a venue boasting over 7,650 square feet of space and an attendee total of up to 1,100 participants. Additionally, the hotel offers functional poolside meeting spaces, themed group dinners and more than 215,000 square feet of beach.

WHALE SHARKS TO BE CELEBRATED
The National Commission of Protected Areas of Mexico (CONANP) will be holding the Second International Whale Shark Conference on Isla Holbox, August 25 – 30. During the conference, participants will have the opportunity to swim with whale sharks, attend workshops, hear from national and international keynote speakers and participate in Mexico’s National Whale Shark Day.

CANCUN HOSTS TRIATHLETES AND OLYMPIC HOPEFULS
For the second time in twelve years, Cancun will host the Triathlon World Cup, scheduled to take place on November 4. Bringing together over 150 athletes from thirty-five nations, who may be awarded points for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Ranking, the event will draw over 4,500 spectators to Cancun and will be broadcast to an additional 95 countries and over 500 million homes. The 2007 Cancun Triathlon will also be held one day prior to the World Cup on November 3.

CANCUN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Emerging filmmaking talents from Mexico and Latin America will be featured in this November’s inaugural Cancun International Film Festival (CIFF), the “Film Festival for the Americas.” For five days, November 14 through 18, 2007, the Festival will pay tribute to discovering and developing Latin America’s aspiring screenwriters, filmmakers and actors, including a program of showcases, tributes, awards, forums and panel discussions.

CIFF has recently announced the formation of its advisory board, which will include well-known filmmakers, actors, studio executives, media and industry VIPs from around the world. These advisors, which will also include Governor of Quintana Roo Felix Arturo Gonzalez Canto and Mayor of Cancun Francisco Alor Quezada, will supervise all aspects of the festival development over the coming years.

CIFF will announce Jury members over the next few months.
