It's another perfect spring afternoon and I've just been to the post office to send Mother's Day gifts. The American holiday will be falling on May 12th this year, but is always the second Sunday in May. This year I've sent physical gifts, but often like to give experiential gifts. I was recently in Las Vegas and caught a performance of Mamma Mia! at Mandalay Bay.

Maybe the title says it all, but there were definitely mother daughter pairs attending the night I was there. Some were even singing along to the Abba songs. My mom and I have yet to debut our melodic skills at such an event. So far we've kept the singing confined to long car trips. Mom's of all ages do seem to like Abba though and Mamma Mia! is lighthearted fun. So if you're still trying to decide on a gift, tickets to a performance might be a nice way to start thanking your mother for all the times she blew on your scraped knees, read you bedtime stories and all those other thank less things mothers do everyday. As I mentioned Mamma Mia! is playing in Las Vegas, but also in New York City, London, Paris, Seoul, Barcelona, Monte Carlo and Athens among other cities. I think my goal for next year should be to hit the performance in Athens, Greece with my mom. What better place to see a play set on a Greek Island?
